winter adventures and craigslist finds
The most compelling news I have to share comes from a site very near and dear to my heart: craigslist.
lacking in funds and overwhelmed by free time, kate and i were able to acquire a tandem bike for the winter. A poorly taken picture does no justice to its majesty...:

Later I discovered the free seciton. I recieved (but didn't end up using) 4 free tickets to a sweet jazz show. Then, after dining with Alice (Budda's Belly = pretttty delicious and just asian enough), Kareem and I mapped out the curbs in LA with free shit and ventured about.

The loot: A frame and a couple national geographics.
The fun factor: high. very high. a great way to get to know the city.
And possibly the best craigslist find of the century:
www.chappelletheory.com
i still can't tell if it's true.. but regardless... great story.
immediately after i read it i decided i wanted to make a movie about it.
however, a couple of writers were one step ahead of me.
So i emailed them, asking if I could help out.
There response was as follows:
"We ... have already been threatened by members of the same camp that threatened Mr. Chappelle, so we are backing out at this time. We are hoping someone gets ahold of this story and exposes this idiots and bullies for what they are. Go for it."
Go for it? At first I decided this could be the opportunity of a life time. Then I decided I don't want 3 big black men to sneak up on me while I shower. Or do I?
Carrying on to the much more banal. As far as dorm updates go, I cleaned out the area under my bed and now all my craftiness takes place within this confined (yet cozy!)area.
Here is Eric scoping out the scene.

What kind of craftiness? Well, I've taken up a new love of stenciling. My guru, Rahim, has taught me the art. My LT sweater has never looked this good:

Woody has taken over not just the back of my favorite hoodie, but also my heart. Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters, and Manhattan are all fantastic and highly recommended - while Purple Rose of Cairo captivates Nina much more than it does me.
A week of winter break has passed, and much ado has been made.
Hilarity a la Brian:

Relaxation a la Ikea:

Yet another pair of leggings purchased:

Kate and I have had our fair share of adventures. In case you forgot what we look like, here is us - modeling freshly cut hair:

We have romped around long beach (clad in rompers, of course), swap meeted (swap met?) - witnessed the massive waves of seal beach and the very subdued waves of her jacuzzi.
Marketplace run in of the week goes to: Jordan Antanoff. Here shown modeling off the quite beautiful tea bags of coffee bean.

Had a fine time dining with my old Anthem bosses.

I like this picture because it is extremely candid. Especially of the mexican man in the background.
Time spent with family has been frequent these days - and you can trust me on this one: my fair share of beets, fried egg sandwiches, and Good Earth Sweet and Spicy tea have been consumed. Jealous?

4 Comments:
the sweater looks amazing. Coincidentally, I'm in manhattan right now. Adios.
It's good to know you're checking out some of his other works. Try the comedies, bananas, love and death, everything you always wanted to know about sex but were afraid to ask. Then you can move on to the more relatively recent, zelig, and mighty aphrodite. And I'll see you at match point in the theaters.
for some reason I said by in the middle of the message. I have no explanation.
Jud, I just adore Sparknotes on "Potter". Looks like now they are working on Dr. Seuss. Can't wait!
